Our Ongoing Legislative and Regulatory Strategy

The advocacy goals of Save Secular Healthcare Washington are organized around four core pillars:

  1. Prevent private equity and venture capital funds from controlling healthcare delivery
  2. Eliminate unnecessary regulatory barriers, including Certificate of Need and Certificate of Public Advantage processes 
  3. Support systems that guarantee full access to all medical services for all patients
  4. Correct the statutory accountability failures within the Department of Health that undermine quality oversight

To advance these goals effectively, we recommend pursuing targeted legislation in the form of smaller, narrowly focused bills, each addressing a specific component of the broader agenda.

Historically, bills attempting to tackle multiple structural problems at once have struggled to pass and are often amended to the point of losing their original purpose. A clear example of this problem is the Keep Our Care Act, which faced repeated blockage across multiple sessions. By the time it advanced, amendments had diluted it significantly and left it far short of its initial intent. A series of smaller, tighter bills might have moved Washington closer to affordable, comprehensive, and equitable healthcare.
